FESTIVAL
The word Utsavam is meant for ‘increased prosperity’. During utsavam days special poojas will be formed. This will make the atmosphere purified and deity’s divine power will be flowed to the village and villagers. During utsavam days a small representative idol of the main deity will be taken outside the temple to perform Sreebhoothabali . This is the occasion to build oneness, unanimity and co-operation among the villagers. In olden days all villagers including those who are residing in various parts of the country as part of their daily livelihood used to visit their native villages, assemble and wprship their village Lord during the utsavam days.
Pallivetta
On Pallivetta data, the penultimate day of the utsavam, the representative idol of Lord Mahaishnu will come out of the temple compound as part of his hunting. All people irrespective of caste and creed will be assembled to see Lord at this time will be assembled. A small pig made of haystack which being the representation of all evil thoughts in the mind of the people as well as evil actions of people, will be hunted and these evils will be killed and all people will be purified.
Aarattu Snanam
In earlier days those people assembled for the Aarattu also used to take bath along with the holy bath of Lord and Lord’s happiness will be shared.
